About the event
Lee White Memorial Ride– A Southwest Colorado Journey
Fire up your engines and join us for a ride that’s as unforgettable as the man it honors. We’re rolling through the wide-open beauty of Southwest Colorado, chasing mountain light, desert horizons, and the kind of roads that make you fall in love with riding all over again.
We’ll kick things off Friday evening, May 29, with a laid-back meet-and-greet at American Legion Post 28, where we will swap stories, share a drink, and get ready for the miles ahead.
Saturday morning, May 30, the smell of fresh breakfast burritos fills the air as bikes line up outside Post 28. At 9:30 AM, kickstands go up and the ride begins.
From Durango, we roll west on U.S. Route 160, the San Juan Mountains rising behind us as mesas and sagebrush open wide in front. We cruise into Mancos, then carve north on Colorado State Highway 184 toward Dolores, where the river sparkles and red cliffs frame the road. From there, its east on Colorado State Highway 145, a ribbon of asphalt cutting through juniper hills and high-desert views, pulling into Montezuma Mexican Restaurant for Stop 2 where you will enjoy good food, and good company.
We head west again on 145, looping back through 184 and climbing north on U.S. Route 491 toward the state line, where the sky feels bigger and the horizon goes on forever. We will meet at the State Line Bar & Grill for our 3rd Stop. Then it’s southbound into Cortez, weaving through town streets to Stop 4 at American Legion Post 75, another chance to connect, laugh, and honor Lee together.
From Cortez, we roll east on 160, the afternoon light painting long shadows across the mesas as the La Plata Mountains guide us home to Durango and back to Post 28 for our final stop.
The day ends the best way riders know how a wonderful dinner, a live band, and a night of memories at American Legion Post 28.
It’s more than a ride.
It’s mountain air in your lungs, desert wind in your face, chrome shining in the sunset, and a road shared in honor of a friend.
Come ride with us.
